An insight into being Italian
Espresso, fashion, pasta, Vespa, opera, gestures, romantic, loud, style, love, family, passion…all these words are linked to the Italian culture.
So what's true in the stereotype?
- Spaghetti and pasta are indeed a main element of our cuisine. This doesn’t mean that we always eat the same dish…the variety is immense (see our pasta guide) and the taste is always different.
- A good meal should always be shared with someone else. It is a way to talk, relax, forget about work for a while and enjoy life. We will always try to find the time to eat properly.
- We do move our hands when we speak. We simply cannot talk standing still. We sometime speak loudly and passionately in public. Don't worry, we are not always arguing… it's just the way we are.
- We do enjoy romance and maybe the stereotype of the charming Italian lover is not completely false. A well behaved Italian guy will never let a girl go home unescorted…or let her pay on a first date!
- Are we really fashion victims? You can recognise Italians by the way they dress from the head to feet (huge sunglasses, tanned skin and perfect make up included). For us style seems to be important in every occasion.
